Maybe someone else can confirm, but I believe you can reseat the CMC without affecting anything else in the chassis.

If you want to try another IP for the CMC, you can use the front panel or serial in.

To eliminate conflicting IPs, take a laptop and connect it directly into the ethernet port on the CMC with a crossover cable and, assuming the laptop has an IP in that same subnet (temporarily), try to ping the CMC. If it still doesn't respond, restarting/reseating the CMC may be an option, but if it does start pinging, you may want to check the 6220 config or look for duplicate IPs.

Hi Dev,

I tried connecting directly to the CMC ethernet port from a laptop, but with little success regardless of the subnet settings. We are setting the rack up now, so nothing is online, so I can do whatever to solve the issue.

I however can ping the switch on its IP address, but not the CMC although the signal is passed through the CMC to the switch.

I was not aware that you could change the IP of the CMC through the front LCD panel. I thought that was for statical information apart from the setup wizzard. How do I change the IP throught the front panel?

Dell support are not overly confident on how to solve the issue, so they may end up sending a new CMC module, but I'm a little surprised over how no simple fix could be thought of in the design process.

Thanks!

Same problem today i have facing like....one of the blade server CMC1 is not responding. I can ping access the CMC1 IP. but when i try to login via web/telnet/ssh nothing is show up. Vai web console it showed us the front page but after that put user name and password it freeze in "login please wait". The CMC1 backside green and blue led lite up no amber sign also there is no error in front LCD panel. But in KVM console in port 17(Dell CMC) show yellow led.

How do this CMC failover into CMC2.

How can I set IP for the 2nd CMC.

How can I reset/reboot the CMC only without affecting the whole chasis/servers in it.

Please advice.
