Unsolved

Open Manage Clients keep dropping off.

IT assistant has been installed and running for about 2 months.  Monitored Servers are installed with the services only for IT Asst.

Everyonce in awhile I will lose a server ( error says that the server is not instrumented ) and If I restart the IT asst. services the server will still not show as monitored.  The server is up and functioning but will not come back up in IT asst until I reboot it.

Any ideas?  Could it be a version issue?

If you ever find the solution to this problem, please post it here. I have had this problem in the past and it is especially bad with our new PE2600 servers, but nobody can solve it. The only recommendation I received was to uninstall the software & SNMP and reinstall.

It sounds like the SNMP service is terminating on the remote node (settings being changed even??), Hence the reboot to fix it. I would start my investigation at this point. Depending on the remote nodes operating system, there may be updates available for the SNMP service. It is possible that an agent installed on that system may be causing a resource leak (memory, threads).
Hope this helps

I did discover several systems had errors in the SNMP settings, which fixed most of my "dropping-off" systems, but I still have about 6 units that keep going away.

Since these are all Windows2003 Server / Standard Edition, I don't believe there are any updates for SNMP yet, but I will double check with Microsoft just in case.

I have just one "special" private snmp community  and it is set for Read/Write. Only one trap address too.

Let me know if you figure anything out.....

I also am running Windows 2003 Standard on all my boxes.  SNMP settings all match.  ( are you using different READ and WRITE SNMP communities or the same for both? )

I might have to check on the updates, might be worth a shot.
