Problem installing 8.0.1.1 patch for DELL openmanage 8.0.1
Hi all,
We are installing Dell openmanage software 8.01 on our R730XD machines via OSD(SCCM), but when we try to install the patch 8.0.1.1, it fails because of the file "invcol.tmp in c:\windows folder is in use by another program. We tried to insert a reboot between installation of the software and installation of the patch but the problem remains " Error 1306. Another application has exclusive access to the file C:\WINDOWS\invcol.tmp. Please shut down all other applications, then click Retry."
We also built-in a pause of 2 minutes after installation of the software, but also not solving the issue. Installing manually also failes if we run the patch immediately after the installation of the software. If we wait for a minute, we don't see the error and the patch is installed.
What is the software doing after installation? Doing an inventory?
Any ideas how to solve this?

Hello
The system should be restarted after installing OMSA. Also, the installation instructions for installing the patch state to run the installation via administrative command line rather than just running the .msp.
The installation shuts down OMSA and the services to complete the install. I would suggest restarting the system after the OMSA install and then performing a command line install per the installation instructions.

SCCM is restarting the server after installing OMSA. The file is still in use when starting the patchinstallation via command-line. I have now built-in a pause of 5 minutes after the restart of the server and before installing the patch. Now the patch is installing fine. It looks like OMSA is doing some inventory or... which is locking that invcol.tmp file?
The problem is occuring since we upgraded our SCCM 2012 R2 infrastructure to SP1, don't know if it is related
