If they have no proxy, it should fly right through. What errors or issues are happening ?

It just cycled back around and asked for the Proxy server credentials again. We tried putting in the local server information and that didn't help either.

Can they get to ftp.dell.com from the command line ? That's what Content Manager connects to on the backside. So if the system can't reach ftp.dell.com from the CMD prompt it won't work.

The only configuration file is the content.ini located in the same directory :

[content]
ftpsite = ftp://ftp.dell.com
contentloc = ftp
suuftp = on

You can try changing "contentloc = ftp" to "contentloc = http" .... this assumes that if you type http://ftp.dell.com in the browser that it will work.

Give that a try.

Response from the customer on the last suggested fix.

Dave,
Yes, I can get to the FTP site via the command line.

C:\Users\scottc>ftp
ftp> open ftp.dell.com
Connected to ftp.ins.dell.com.
220 Microsoft FTP Service
User (ftp.ins.dell.com:(none)): anonymous

230 Anonymous user logged in.

Modifying content.ini’s “contentloc = ftp” to “contentloc = http” didn’t work, same error. I also tried changing “ftpsite = http://ftp.dell.com”, same error. In IE I can pull up both ftp://ftp.dell.com and http://ftp.dell.com.

Probably need to get them into support, not sure what the issue would be. Where did they get this version of Content Manager, and what is the version ?

Have they tried it on a different machine, perhaps on a different subnet ?

Content came straight off the DVD from the server box. I'll have them call support and see what they discover.

thanks.
