R730xd LifeCycle Controller will not update
Service Tag :
BIOS Version : 2.7.1
Firmware Version : 2.30.30.30
iDRAC 8 Express
I have started down this road when I put in a USB 3.0 PCI card and then the system fans ran at full speed.
I was able to get the BIOS to update from the iDRAC controller up to 2.7.1.
No matter which way I have tried to get the LifeCycle/iDRAC controller to upgrade it will not work.
The .exe runs, Windows 64 & 32, and I get that the USB Virtual drive is not found.
If I upload the .exe to the iDRAC then it gives a cant confirm/verify file.
I uploaded the .d7 and it stated the firmware was updating but never finished and required a reset to the iDRAC from the front i button.
If I use the LifeCycle controller from the F10 bootup the FTP fails.. ftp.dell.com, downloads.dell.com, etc.
If I copy the files to a blank FAT32 USB then it states it can't find any of the files.
I created a bootable USB CentOS and tried running the .BIN file and it will run then stop and say the timeout has exceed and upgrade failed.
I have tried the .iso that updates all the firmwares.
I have tried sus and also does not work.
I have reset the iDRAC with the i button, racadm, etc. Drained the power from the server, etc.
I have searched every thing I could possibly find.. now I am here.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Yeah it sounds like you have tried all of the options, you may need to replace the system board.
