RED098: Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is not compatible with the target system

"RED098: Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is not compatible with the target system model"

I have several systems returning this error now with different updates and it is frustrating:

R640: Express-Flash-PCIe-SSD_Firmware_GD4X4_WN64_VDV1DP25_A04_01.EXE

Components PCIe SSD in Slot 8 in Bay 1

 PCIe SSD in Slot 9 in Bay 1

Current VDV1DP23

Available VDV1DP25

All these updates are listed as Critical in Dell's OME (OpenManage Enterprise) and all fail to apply, both in OME as well as when directly uploaded to the iDRAC webUI. None of these servers run windows, so I can't simply run the DUPs on the host.

Hello,

please can you try to update with this version? This version is slightly different from A04_01

Thanks

@DELL-Marco B

At least this Express-Flash-PCIe-SSD_Firmware_GD4X4_WN64_VDV1DP25_A04.EXE file passes the upload and schedule-for-later test.

I will try to get a reboot in soon to see if it can also apply without issue also.

@DELL-Marco B

What are the differences between A04 and A04_1 ?

@reukiodo_uw

After reboot, it worked! "PR19: Job completed successfully" and firmware of both PCIe SSDs now reads VDV1DP25 in iDRAC.

Still showing VDV1DP23 in OME (3 and 4) even after a compliance re-check.
