Remote access to OMSA Web interface

Hello Everyone,

I've been digging for this answer for a couple days and can't seem to find it so I thought I'd post a message here to see if you could shed some light on this.

Dell 1650
OMSA 5.2
CentOS v5 (linux)

OMSA is installed and working, I can successfully login to OMSA from this computer locally.

I would like to login to OMSA on this computer from another computer on the same network (no firewall or other restrictions b/w these two servers). Unfortunately each attempt to connect to https://192.168.1.240:1311 simply results in a "page cannot be displayed error".

I have edited the iws.ini file (remote_admin and security) without success. Perhaps this isn't the correct file.

In any event, I'd like to access OMSA from a remote browser; how can I accomplish that?

Thanks!

You don't need to do anything special to access OMSA from a remote browser. It's simply an application with HTML (web-based) interface that can be accessed from any other system. The webserver bundled in OMSA listens at port (default) 1311.

"page cannot be displayed" error is displayed by the browser.

I would not suspect anything wrong with OMSA configuration; instead I'd look for one of the following:
1) Some antivirus/firewall/security software that is blocking communication from remote system to the OMSA system. Such a software could be present either on OMSA system, or the remote system you are using.
2) Browser's proxy settings.
3) Could you check the port number when you launch OMSA locally? (Just in case you changed it for your OMSA installation, but trying the default 1311 from remote browser)
4) The OMSA service is indeed "Started" when you get the error from a remote system.
