Server Administrator Install - dcevt32 could not be installed

Hey!

It's my first time here, so if i don't know all the rules yet, please forgive me.

OK, right to the problem... Hope that someone can help me out, probably just missing something.

Tried to install Dell Server Administrator (single node) 7.1 to a R710 with Windows SBS 2011 OS but with no avail.

I've tried, don't know, 20 times at least. After updates, cleanup, different users, security settings, services running,... Tried to install to different drives, but no success. So i finally went and checked the verbose log - and I found the reason (at least i hope):

MSI (s) (48:AC) [21:40:09:734]: Executing op: ServiceInstall(Name=dcevt32,DisplayName=DSM SA Event Manager,ImagePath="C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\dataeng\bin\dsm_sa_eventmgr32.exe",ServiceType=16,StartType=2,ErrorControl=0,,Dependencies=:emotion-53:,,,Password=**********,Description=Provides OS and file event logging service for systems management and is also used by event log analyzers. If this service is stopped, event logging features will not function properly.,,)
InstallServices: Service:
Info 1923.Service DSM SA Event Manager (dcevt32) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.
Action ended 21:40:09: InstallExecute. Return value 3.

After this point, the installer goes into rollback.

What bothers me is that this service cannot be installed after 1 successfully installed service (mr2kserv). So, i can't figure out, what am i missing.

I truly hope that someone has an idea what I'm missing and I am really grateful for anyone's time and any kind of suggestions.

Hardware: Dell  PowerEdge 710, 24 GB Ram, 1 processor, iDrac Express 6, 4x SAS 400gb, 2x SAS 148 GB

OS: Windows Small Business Server 2011, freshly updated to the latest :)

Best regards, Jernej from Slovenia

P.S.: Sorry for the bad English.

Navotjer,

Would you try this patch for the OMSA install?

www.dell.com/.../poweredge-r710

Also, please update the iDrac as well - www.dell.com/.../poweredge-r710

Let me know if that resolves the error.

Just to make sure, you are logged in as the  admin, correct?

Run Command Prompt as Administrator

run the following in the DOS window to remove old Open Manage services then try installing again.

sc delete "Server Administrator"

sc delete dcstor64

sc delete dcevt64

sc delete omsad
