Hello,

i´ve one question concening IT Assistant.

It is possible to start it ín my Browser ?  Yes

If so, how can i use the IT Assistant by my browser ?  You need to use Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.  I think that it works in Firefox and Mozilla also.

What must i do and how is the webadress ?  https://hostname:2607   So if the name of your IT Assistant system is joe, the address would be https://joe:2607 .  Alternatively, you can use the IP Address of the IT Assistant box.  So if the IP address of your IT Assistant system is 192.168.0.2 then you would put in https://192.168.0.2:2607 .

That you for your help.

Best regards

Hallo,

I have straight times tap with the URL (referred to my system) tried out.  Unfortunately do I get in the IE 6 the message "this side cannot not be indicated" can it be that I must start still any service on my server or that must be put on a new Website in the IIS ?

Thanks for each further tap!

Please check the IT Assistant Connection Service. You can find it in Windows by going to START - All Programs - Administrative Tools - Services. The service should say "Started". If it has failed to start, you can check the event viewer to see why it has failed."

Okay.  Can you answer all these questions?

1.  What operating system are you running?

2.  What is the model of the machine that you are installing this on?  (PowerEdge 1900 or Optiplex GX280, etc)

3.  Do you have any other web server applications running on the ITA server?  (i.e. Apache Web Server, IIS, etc...)

4.  Does your operating system have a service pack?  If so, which one?

I use

- Windows 2003 Server without Service Pack
- i install the OpenManage not on a DELL machine (i only use (need) the ITA)
- IIS is running

Thanks

Hi,

Are you running IT Assistant 7.x?  Web functionality didn't exist in earlier versions.

Also, if you run a netstat -ao, you should see the port 2607 listed there and listening. If you are not able to use https:\\localhost:2607 or https:\\ipaddress:2607 or https:\\127.0.0.1:2607, then there is a problem with ITA or there is anotehr application that is using the port number.

When you use the netstat command from above, if you see the port 2607 listed there, check task manager and see which PID has sbeen assigned to the port. It should be the ITA application.

Hi

I have just tried installing IT Assistant 8.0 on Windows XP SP2 on Latitude D620.

I have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 express, Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6, SNMP & WMI SNMP Provider installed (under add/remove programs, windows components, management and monitoring tools).

I get the same problem (page cannot be displayed when I click on the IT assistant icon.

I can see it is because the two IT assistant services (DSM IT Assistant Connection Service and DSM IT Assistant Network Monitor) are not started.

When I try starting them I get the error message: "Could not start the DSM IT Assistant Network Monitor service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start".

When I check the dependecies, I see SNMP Service is not started. When I try starting that, I get the message: "The SNMP Service service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service."

Has anyone had their SNMP service on a win XP SP2 computer do this?

I have tried uninstalling everything and re-installing but no joy.

I have also tried several machines, but no joy.

I have tried previous versions of IT assistant (version 7 with MSDE) but no joy with that.

I am assuming it is my SNMP service that is the problem, so I uninstalled the service, and then re-installed just SNMP (not WMI SNMP as well).

I noticed while the status said "Completing configuration of Management and Monitoring Tools" that it took a while to complete, and an error message appeared saying:
"One or more services for the Simple Network Management Protocol component took more than their allotted time to start. Installation will continue, but services will not be available until they have started completely."

I then went to Services, and tried starting the SNMP service, but I has the same message again about it starting and stopping.

Can anyone offer any help?

Cheers

Stephen

I have seen almost the same symptoms as you but in my case it's the DSM IT Assistant Network Monitor service that starts then stops. Our problems may be related so I was wondering whether or not you were able to resolve it and if yes, what did you do?

Thanks in advance to let me know!
