Understanding current versions, getting correct inventory

Question

I just upgraded to Windows Server 2003 on a PE2400 and all appears to be running fine.  However, I believe I should also be installing newer versions of other drivers and management software.  In trying to determine the appropriate (and most recent) updates to server, I'm finding the download information confusing.    This morning, I came across a post on OpenManage and  IT Assistant which included Array Manager Console (subject: Where to download the latest version of OpenManage, 09-01-2004).  This post led me to find IT Assistant, release date 12/06/2004, that has Array Manager Console 3.6.   I would think that V3.6 would be the most recent version to install versus v.3.5 --- but v3.5 was released three months later than v3.6.  Could you help me understand which is appropriate?  The most recent date or the higher version number?   What I found previously on the support download web site for WIN2003: Dell OpenManage Array Manager, v.3.5.0.555.4, A02 Release Date:  12/10/2004   Listed as previous version Dell OpenManage Array Manager, v.3.6.0.568.5, A05 Release Date:  09/16/2004   I am also equally confused in determining my current system software inventory and ensuring that I am at the right rev level, such as with the PERC2/si drivers and firmware.  When I tried to install what I thought was a newer version, I got an error message stating that the version I was trying to install was older than what was on the server already.    Here's the BACKGROUND INFO on my server as it is now (I think I got it all, but not sure): DELL PowerEdge Server 2400 - Current configuration: BIOS A09 System Backplane Firmware v 5.43 PERC 2/si Build 2991 v 2.5-0 Enterprise Server Management (ESM) software v 5.28   I just can't get a handle on what the current software/firmware inventory is/should be, and how Dell manages versions.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Please go out to our http://support.dell.com website and do not specify a category.  All available drivers and firmware for that server will be available.   As for the OpenManage tools, for local monitoring you need to install Dell OpenManage Server Administrator 1.9.2, which includes Array Manager 3.6.  Your Perc 2Si should also be at version 2.80 for both the driver and firmware.   Thank you for using Dell Community Forums!
