Updating Dell R710
I was trying to update my bios on my R710. I copied to a USB stick the latest bios update from dell.com, and confirmed the hash. I chose Local Drive, then the USB slot, and it scanned, and it said it couldn't locate any files. I had downloaded the two update files for the BIOS update since I wasn't sure which one it would want. I tried the FTP option. It ran, then it came back and said "No update is available". My bios is sitting at 6.4.0 currently, and I know this isn't the latest version, and I am wondering what else I need to update now. How can I update this?

Hello,
The files for the R710 wouldn't be present in the Dell FTP catalog anymore, they've removed systems prior to the 12th generation of servers. That avenue would be unavailable, unfortunately.
As for the USB route you'd mentioned, what version is your iDRAC and Lifecycle controller? That's the only other reason I can think of for it to not recognize an update for the platform. One way I do recommend from time to time is to download the latest BIOS file, rename it to something like "bios.exe" and update using a FreeDOS USB. Let me know if this helps, or if you have additional questions.

I want the Flash BIOS executable format?
idrac6
uefi v2.1
Unified Server Configurator - 1.7.5.4
It still cannot locate the file, it says, even after renaming it. Does it matter if there is a USB in the front and back? The dropdown box only showed USB0.

Did you make a FreeDOS USB to use within the LCC? If so, that's not what you'd want to do. You'd just wnt to boot the the USB. the expectation is that you should get a DOS prompt to run the bios file there. If I misunderstood your reply, then could you provide a bit more detail on how you've adjusted your process?
