John, if you actually tell it to perform the update, does it work? I'l presume no and continue with a few more quedstions:
a. can you provide a screenshot of your network configuration screen and the Platform update screen in USC?
b. what model system is this?
c. in the Platform Update, View Current Versions, what does it say your Lifecycle Contrroller version is?
This last one is normally unecessary, but for the username and password (under ftp address) enter anonymous and blank respectively, and let me know if it makes a difference.

What Symantec firewall are you running? Is this a managed system in your company environment? If so you may need to get your IT staff involved with modifying the firewall to allow for the FTP traffic. If the client is unmanaged, see this KB regarding firewall policies for unmanaged systems.

John,
Here is the User Guide PDF for the USC/Lifecycle controller. You can see on page 26-27 it addresses setting up the IP settings thru the USC Settings Wizard.

Hi mate,
I think I have a Symantec firewall issue, but it is getting difficult to isolate the actual cause. I'll check on the LCC and let u know soon.
Thx again,
John Bradshaw
