Windows 2003 Server Disk view will not display after installing Dell Open Array Manager
New Windows 2003 Server on Dell 2650 with RAID firmware & BIOS updates, experiencing problems after installating Dell Open Array Manger 3.4.1, disk view within the array manager console displays a blank screen. Any ideas?? Note, can display disk view in default disk management interface under manage in My Computer.

Hi,
I believe the problem here is while Win2003 has a driver native for the Perc 3/di, it does not get along with Array Manager. Try this driver: (Win2003 will think this is an older driver, just ignore the messages).
PERC 2/qc, 2/Si, 3/Si, 3/Di, Driver, 2003, v.2.7.1.4944, A02
FileName: WS03A02.exe [221 KB]
Release Date: 9/9/2003

Hi,
I have just learned I was getting 2 separate issues confused. The Dell drivers are required for the Array Manager to recognise the Perc controllers at all.
The "missing" Volumes and Disks sections is a separate issue. On Win2000, Array Manager "took over" the default Disk Management snap-in. When running Win2003, the Array Manager is no longer fully integrated. You use the standard Disk Management snap-in to create you Operating System level partitions or volumes.
I apologize for the confusion.
Thanks

I have a PowerEdge 8450, Perc 2 controller with two system disks, and a direct attached PV660F storage unit linked through a ql2200 fiber channel adapter. I recently upgraded my server to Windows 2003, and noticed the symptoms talked about (i.e. no disk view in array manager, but native disk management working fine.)
My Perc 2 disks show and can be manipulated; my PV660f virtual disk shows too, and can also be manipulated in terms of volumes. BUT the disk itself is dynamic, and reading up on Win 2003 clusters, it needs to be basic. I may well go for this in the future, but the option 'Convert to Basic disk' is greyed out. Can I convert to basic? I suppose destroying and recreating the RAID container *might* let me do it, but this is a production server and I have nowhere else for the data to go!
Any tips gratefully received
