Charging mats

My Dell venue 8 pro's charging plug has somehow broken and I can no longer charge my device. It is now down to 30% and when it is 0% the device will be useless unless I can get it charged by other means. Is it possible to charge this tablet by using a charging mar and if so what brand of mat will work.

I don't care if it only charges slowly as it would be better than just having a dead tablet. Apparently you can't open these up and replace the plug so I no longer have a mini USB plug.

I don't personally know about this specific device but it is having a USB port right? Then most devices today support USB charging.Just plug it to a computer or usb charger using a USB cable. It will get charged. And while buying charger buy one of enough power and voltage(MAH doesnt matter as it decides only how fast you can charge, but choose ne of a high mah to charge faster).

Not unless you add the needed technology and circuitry into the innards of the tablet--it's not built for charging mat use.

Instead:  contact Dell for a warranty repair; or on eBay, I've seen at least 2 companies doing port repair work, at a reasonable price, for exactly this issue--I'd check that out.

The Venue 8 does have wireless charging. Dell sells a charge base for this. Don't know the cost. You can probably use a generic charger. I bought one from China for $4 plus shipping.

Is your charger compatible with the Windows version? I'd seen one but only for Android. if so, can you share the link please? I did a search while my DV8P was being serviced (motherboard died after two weeks/ten hours of use) but found nothing.

I use the wireless charger with my Nexus 7 android tablet. It is a standard Qi charger purchased on eBay from sunwebhome for $7.50. I don't mine on eBay now, but they have a number of different models. Mine is rectangular without any manufacturer or other ID except for model MC-02A.

Interesting. You wouldn't know though if this would work with the Dell venue 8 Pro which is a Windows 8 tablet.

Even at $4 I wouldn't be losing much if it didn't work. I am still waiting for Dell support to get back to me.

Thanks for the link Milkerman but it is for US people only.

The Venue 8 Pro is supposed to be Qi wireless charging ready. Check your manual and the Dell site for details. These chargers should work with all Qi equipped phones and tablets.

I just searched the entire V8P manual and there is no reference to wireless charging. Where have you seen it should have Qi charging abilities? I can't imagine why the manual wouldn't mention it if it has this ability. This is a very nice added selling point if true, so Dell not mentioning is also strange.

I have a couple of Qi charging pads at home, so I can check. But I must say I'm skeptical it will work.

Sorry--didn't/don't know where you're located.  You might check out the other eBay repair services (there were at least 2 others--try a search on "Dell Venue 8 Pro repair"), at eBay.com and your "local" eBay (if any).

Here's a LINk<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>to a Dell wireless charging dock for the Venue 8 Pro.

And, per that product page:

Compatibility

This product is compatible with the following systems:

Venue 8 (3840)

The Venue 8 is not the same as the Venue 8 Pro, and they have different capabilities.

I don't recall any discussion of inductive charging for the DV8P in any of its manuals or marketing materials, nor have I seen anyone state that the DV8P has that capability (apart from here).  In fact, I have read a thread of a user trying to add that capability to his DV8P (the effort didn't work).

Unless inductive charging is a DV8P Easter egg that the DV8P user community has missed and that Dell has chosen never to promote, it just isn't there.

I found that link last night but the model number didn't match mine so I didn't research. Plus I could not find a price so wondered if it was still in production

I just got the cradle for my plain Venue 8, and can't get it to register that it's charging whatsoever.
