Dell - Keyboard keyboard keyboard...

Looking to anybody here for some insight. I recently purchased a Dell 11 pro I3 with dock. To cut an agonizing long story short the tablet does not work with any keyboard I try.

Wired USB Keyboard.. NOPE
Wireless 2.4ghz keyboard.. NOPE
Bluetooth Keyboard.. NOPE

It works during the initial setup. After the intial setup and when you boot the first time into Windows8 the keyboard doesn't work. I have tried EVERYTHING. Safe Mode, Selective startups, uninstalling default updates to see if a program broke it, BIOS A05,A06,A09.   If anybody has thoughts to maybe something I missed would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I have tried all the USB ports on the side, still no dice.  It's hugely disappointing to me. I wanted to use this thing as a primary machine. With no keyboard however it's impossible to use it as a primary.

I will say the mouse works well on all the usb docking ports.

I had this exact same problem on Windows 8.1 on a desktop. Upgraded to 8.1 and lost the keyboard. The fix for it was to enable disable Intel xhci support in the BIOS.

Sorry, just to be clear. You tried connecting to a kb/mouse via the full sized USB on the side of the tablet? That is weird because I've had no problem with that one. Have you tried anything else on the USB ports on the docking station?

Hi - have you tried using the USB port on the device rather than the docking station? My experience is that the docking station USB ports DO NOT WORK normally.  An hour on the phone with Dell India yesterday proved useless. They claimed that the ports are not made to work with MP3 players, keyboard, hard drives - you know, all the stuff that USB does.  They gave an irrational answer related to the OTG standard. fundamentally they just didn't' get it. And this is totally inconsistent with the info about the docking stations they provide.

The USB ports on the docking station are version 3. I've gotten something (don't remember what) to work on one of those ports. But otherwise Ive had to use the port on the tablet and hook it up to a dedicated 8 port USB hub. Not an adequate answer, but what I've found.

Have you gotten anything else to work with your docking station USB ports?

I purchased the Dell wireless keyboard and mouse to use with the Venue 11 PRO and desktop dock and I have had no issues at all.

The connection for the keyboard and mouse is a micro USB dongle and this is plugged into one of the USB 3.0 ports on the back of the dock.

This is a long shot, but do you have "Filter Keys" turned on?  (Use the Charm Bar to search for "Filter Keys").

When I first setup my VP8, I had it synced with my desktop, and I tuned on the filter in hopes it would beneficially affect the on screen keyboard.  It didn't, but it turned on the filter on my desktop, and royally screwed up my desktop keyboard.   Turning it off returned the keyboard to normal.

I plugged a USB 3.0 hub (by Plugable) into the docking station and all devices into the hub...worked perfectly from day one.
