Dell venue 8 pro 3000 series COM1 test failed.

I was using my new venue 8 tablet when windows encountered and error- Kernel_Security_Check_Failure and had to restart. I am aware that this may be un related to my issue. I used the my dell diagnostics to test the device just to make sure that the device is ok as it was purchased today. The test failed at COM1 port send and receive test. I know that a com 1 port is a serial port and of course a tablet does not have a serial port that I know of. Did the test fail because the device does not have a serial port?

I've heard that cosmic rays, random streams from outer space, passing through us don't do much damage, other than random cancers in later life, but if one zings through a CPU or RAM memory stick at just the right moment...

In other words, don't sweat it unless it happens again. It could have been just one of those things.

(And if it does happen again, try refreshing the device in Windows before you do anything drastic like returning it.) :)

Ran the test again and it passed, could there still be a problem with the device?

yeah, I kept testing it and it stopped failing the test but the display would not shut off when it was shut down and charging. It would be bright and heat up when off, so I called dell tech support and they did a remote test and said it failed the rtc accuracy test so they are sending me a replacement. I took the time to restore windows and it fails the com test if it's tested right after a restore, but not after it is tested again. I tried this a few times with the same result.

Thank you for your reply.
