Full reset Dell venue pro 11

I have read the way to do a full reset with my Dell venue pro 11 7130 is to make usb recovery drive then use that to reinstall. But when I do this there is no partition back up I can see and the usb drive ends up being 256mb and my system is 4-5gb in size. I also noticed something about a warning that it will reset to Windows 8 and I have 8.1 installed so I might need my install disc but I have no extra discs this is a second hand tablet so I am unsure of what came with it in the first place? Our am I ok to just go ahead with this? (I am assuming it will just install from the usb not an img file too?) . Thanks

I managed to tether the tablet to my phone and did the system detect and update drivers. I'm doubtful of corruption of file but I guess maybe... I looked at the log file and it said it could not detect the language of Windows and so it stopped from what I can see. Very odd. Which could point to bad programming if it was functioning properly I guess.

Yes so basically I'm trying the remove everything and reinstall Windows. But it just says insert media . Stone files are missing your Windows installation or recovery media will provide these. How to get round this? Usb recovery or something?

Did you try to do a Windows "reset" on the device (settings, update and recovery)?    Is this where you are getting the error or are you trying to install from a key?

Yes I tried on the device with nothing attached. There appears to be no partition as well when I made the usb recovery disc. Not sure if the previous owner deleted that.

So I guess this it's what I'll be doing : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/clean-install I assume it's all fine? I see I can out 8.1 with update 1 straight on hopefully there is no problems with product key I assume this tablets key is not for 8 or something like that. Then I guess I install these : http://www.dell.com/Support/Article/us/en/19/SLN293406 and I suppose any other Dell bits I need not sure yet what these will be...? Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. First tablet for me I'm used to desktops! Thanks

Ok so I performed a reinstall from scratch of 8.1 pro and it all seemed to work fine except the Wi-Fi has disappeared making updates a bit tricky! So I followed the recommended updates for my tablet on Dell and the Wi-Fi recommended was this one http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=Y37J5 so I used my phone to grab it and copied across via usb but it basically says it cannot extract it /extraction failed?! So I'm a bit stuck now. In device manager the Wi-Fi is unrecognised. Any ideas thanks?

You need to pull the driver down on another computer and transfer it over via USB key.   I suspect your phone is corrupting the file.
