Missing power plans ad errors on Dell Power Manager
Hi all,
with pleasure I've updadet my venue pro 7130 with the A13 bios, and I see some improvements in the fan noise. I've also installed the dell power manager utility but some issues are preventing the program to run correctly.
in windows\power options I have only two choices, Balanced and Dell.
opening the dell power manager 2.0 and entering in thermal control immediatly it is reported the first error: " warning: unable to retrieve thermal management information".
in the menu are visible the thermal control options ranging from quiet to ultra perforrmance but selecting any of them and applying returns another error:"warning: unable to apply thermal mannnagement setting".
at this point i have tried to run the program as admin and reinstalling the dell power manager but nothing helped, any advise on how to fix both the issues? it is annoying i cannot manage the performance and the consumption, as it s reported in this article it should be working fine instead...

I have just updated and got the same problem. I was shocked to see you guys got this problem several months ago and until now, NO ANSWER or any actions from Dell. I have started eyeing for Surface Pro 3. Maybe you guys should do the same and NEVER come back to Dell.

Yes, when the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 matches the Dell Venue 8 Pro's $299 or so retail price, I would be happy to purchase it. :emotion-5:

Guys I have the same issue after finally updating to Power Manager 2 (a long story).
From Event Viewer when opening:
Warning from DellCommandPowerManager.exe OBJLIB-TMP11
Message: No thermal mode currently set on the system
When trying to apply:
Warning from DellCommandPowerManager.exe OBJLIB-TMP3
Message: Invaild thermal mode value returned: None
Seems like it can't apply a thermal mode because there isn't already one enabled. Sloppy coding and was this even tested at all? If I wrote code like this I'd be fired immediately...
I'm absolutely sick to death of buggy Dell proprietary drivers and utilities, cause nothing but trouble.

Email support tell me they don't support Dell software and telephone support tell me I need a paid software support contract just to report an bug, even if it's with Dell utilities on the machine!
I'm certainly not paying money to tell Dell their own software doesn't work! Insane...
Has anyone else tried raising this with support?

It's said this will be fixed in the July BIOS updates.

No sign of a new BIOS for my E5440 either.
Haven't seen any evidence Dell has pushed out lots of BIOS updates yet. Last year I got one on the 22nd July.
