You can order the A01 stylus now with a slight lead time.   Sales can tell you exactly how long, but it shouldn't be too bad.

I, too, received my active stylus for my Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet yesterday and immediately tried to use it. As there were no operating instructions, other than battery installation, I called Dell. That call led to a very lengthy session with a difficult-to-understand technician. My initial questions about operation were brushed aside because the first order of business was downloading and installing updated firmware, which was apparently successful but took a long time. After the firmware update, I again tried to get my operational questions answered but was unsuccessful because of poor communication and the tech wanting to close the session. After the session, I was connected with her boss who was easier to understand, but I never got my questions answered satisfactorily. So if you can, please provide me a link to written or video operational instructions for the stylus. Also if possible, please provide me a link to a test routine for the stylus. I want to verify the stylus is working properly.

Does it still make that annoying 'tic tic tic tic' sound all the time while writing? Thank you for the info. That 'tic tic tic' is cuz Dell uses a hard plastic tip. It is annoying and somewhat slippery, you will miss your mark alot if you don't slow down and pay attention especially on a small 8' screen. The wacom stylus on my samsung slate 7 also uses a hard tip, but that unit has a 11.6' screen. Surface pros also use a hard tip and same with my new Asus vivo tab note 8. If you want that nice quiet smooth with some feedback, go buy the pens made for the Samsung Note 3/Note 8 and Note 10.1 They use a soft tip, it's  much better than the hard tip when used on a small screen. Only time the hard tip is better is when you do illustrations that requires large smooth line strokes, the softer tips has more friction as it picks up the crud on your screen easier causing your line strokes to studder. The Samsung pen may need a slight calibration to be accurate since it was tuned for android and not windows OS in mind. It's off by a few hairs from where you place the pen tip.

the one note app seems to be a good place to test the stylus. For me when one note detected the stylus was being used it told me what the buttons would do when pushed

No, Dell is using a brand new never used before Active Stylus system (Synapthic) which is not compatible with other Active Stylus systems on the market like Wacom.
