Updating to Mango - Issues
This morning I was happy to see that my phone had pending updates and thought to myself: Gee Mango is Here!
However as I am trying to update my phone via Zune, I constantly get the following Error:
"Update Error
There was an error while trying to update your device with the latest software. Please try again.
The software mode reported by your phone isn't correct.
To see if there's more information about this error, click Web Help.
Error Code
801812C1"
I've searched in here but didnt find anything regarding this issue and could not find anything about this error code on Google that occurred with recent updates. (it's similar to a previously documented error on the Samsung 7 where the phone would reboot repeatedly in step 6 of the update process. The fix for that according to a post in the MS forums was to "wait and try again another day".)
Heck I've even done a factory reset on the phone and just tried to update fresh but no go either (i.e. deleted all media files, programs, etc. as it is timing out on Step 6...)
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas? Thanks in advance for any assistance!
Additional FYI:
Carrier: T-Mobile-Unlocked
And I've just uninstalled/reinstalled Zune to run update again and still no go...

I just tried to run update on a fresh install of zune and after a hard reset of the unit. But now everytime it says "A driver for your phone needs to be updated and couldn't be installed in time". But with the windows device mananger on, I see that the entries for the device disappear for a bit during the update and then only comes back after the update fails.

I can confirm it's not Mango. :) They only recently (two day ago) released Beta 2 Refresh to the developers and the Release Candidate to the manufactures.
Can you report all the firmware / software versions on your phone?

Have you tried the latest Zune client? (4.8)

Yes I've tried it on 4.8. I actually dug up an older computer i had in the closet just to try to run an updating on zune 4.7 and a freshly reset unit and it worked. Now i'm updated to 2250.1800.7392.212... but then i guess this is the premango update then =p

This is a firmware update from Dell, on the Windows Phone Microsoft releases the OS updates for the hardware vendors release firmware updates. When the update is displayed it'll tell you where the update is coming from.
But fear not, Mango is rumoured to be in the works and my guess would be about one month from now. Oh and it's AWESOME :)
