Upgrade to 2.2 : comments
OK: here's my experience so far ~36 hours post-upgrade from 1.6 (unlocked UK device) & having only used the device at home on WiFi:
Good news:
1) The upgrade went faultlessly - it was over fairly quickly and everything was in place after restoring the backup (although I don't keep any contact details etc. on it anyway)
2) The phone's general responsiveness seems better & of course Froyo enables Flash etc.
OK News:
1) New keyboard is OK I guess, but I miss the arrows, the separate numberpad & the "hide" button
Bad news:
1) Browser keeps failing with "too many server redirects"
2) Apps "Force Close" a lot
3) WiFi performance seems dramatically degraded - it drops out in places where previously it was fine (although it was always worse than my hp laptop). Once it's dropped out I often have to switch WiFi off & back on again to reconnect...
4) ...and it's not so easy to get to the WiFi (and other) settings as it was (i.e. via the menubar)
5) email no longer uses Push
6) The desktop "workspaces" (or whatever they're called) intrude into adjacent ones in landscape - looks untidy
7) The desktop often fails to move smoothly between "workspaces" when the screen is stroked
8) There seems no longer to be a way to task-switch between apps via the menubar
9) Icons are now spaced too far apart & (for me) the number per screen is sub-optimal compared with 1.6
10) There are at least ten default (and apparently undeletable) apps that are complete cruft as far as I'm concerned (there were a few before, but now given the reduced number of icons per screen they seem more intrusive)
On balance at the moment I'd say the device was more useable with 1.6 than with this new release.

Wish I could say the same. I updated to 2.2 Froyo Tuesday night,and it was working great.After all fiasco I was happy.
BUT,come Wednesday morning the phone will now not switch ON and keeps looping back to the Dell logo with none of the buttons allowing me to do a master reset. In short the OFFICIAL OTA 2.2 Froyo update has bricked my phone. You couldn't make it up if you tried.:emotion-6:
On that note,would anyone have any info on getting the phone working again.I have tried everything.

You could try the following. It will erase all of the data on the internal memory.
1. Remove the battery and leave the battery out for about one minute.
2. Replace the battery
3. Plug in and turn on the charger. Allow the battery to charge for one hour.
4. Perform a factory reset

Thanks,gave that a try but still no response from the phone.It seems to have been Bricked by the OTA update.Well done Dell.Your incompetance astonds me.
