Venue 7 garbled audio problems and my solution.
One of the first apps I installed on my brand new Dell Venue 7 was TuneIn radio. I discovered that when I listened with earphones/buds the the audio was badly distorted. It sounded like the digital warble of a very weak cell phone call. I tried 6 different sets of phones/buds that I had around the house and the distortion varied from bad to severe. It was fine with the internal speaker and crystal clear with my Bluetooth headphones. I also tried a couple of 'Listen Live' apps from local radio stations and had exactly he same problem. I tried using earbuds with a couple of games and had no problems at all. Suspecting a WiFi problem, I loaded a movie onto the flash memory and this time the problem was that the voices were drowned out by the background track. Again, this was only with earbuds; the internal speaker and BT headphones worked fine. I wrote it off as a software/firmware problem and hoped a fix would be coming.
Today I received my latest order from a Hong Kong wholesaler I buy from regularly and one of the items was a set of $3 earbuds. Much to my surprise these cheap Chinese Beats knock-offs work perfectly. It seems these units (or maybe just my unit) are fussy about the earbuds you use.
