Venue 8 Pro not charging?
I have not used this tablet a lot for the first couple of months I had it, then it was not used for 4 months I enjoyed it but mainly wanted it for travel. I used it for month while traveling in October it worked fine and put it up since then I got it out and put it on charge the same cord and charger that came with it and has worked in past. The white light will come on but after say ten mins goes off and the tablet is warm on the back, it has not charged if I try to reset by holding the buttons down I only get a couple flashes of Amber light. And when I plug the charger in no lights come on. Then if I wait like an hour and plug charger back in the white light comes on and again only stays on 10 mins or so and warms up the back. The warranty period is over as of 4-2, any thoughts, bad battery due to letting sit and battery going dead for so long? Tried three different cords but only have the one dell charger.

Hi ,
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.I am Jennifer and I work for the Dell social media Team .
To resolve this issue would ask you to confirm if this charger works fine on a different tablet and if a different charger works fine on this tablet by doing this we are trying to eliminate if the battery or the charger is faulty .
Battery may fail to charge if
a)Battery or charger is damaged .
b)The device's temperature is below 0°C or higher than 45°C.
c)Poor contact between the battery and charger.
I hope this helps. But if there are any concerns do reply to this post we will be glad to resolve them for you .
Have a great day ahead!
Kindest Regards,

Hi
I know there many people having this problem (not charging)
No one of your reasons have to do with the problem.
Please give us a real solution.
One month old Dell Venue 8 pro not charging despite trying with many other cables..and other charges with no success.

I HAVE been using the Dell Venue Pro 8 frequently for over a year. There was a problem with the USB charging plug (as noted elsewhere http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/mobile-devices/f/4586/t/19531607
about Micro A socket) but i was able to slightly pry the bent pole in socket and I taped reminder of "top" to the plug - AND this has worked for over a year. I can use this charger on my phone as well.
Just yesterday, the little white charging light would not come on when plugged. The device did seem to get warm and it never charged. THERE is no power to run any diagnostics.
Is this problem likely due to failure of the socket? or to failure in the battery. If latter, how can this be fixed?
thanks.

Check out port repair (replace) services available via eBay.com (e.g. from MYdeviceRepair)--port replacement for around $30-$40. :emotion-1:

Sent mine in once to Dell and it charged for a couple of weeks. Sent it back and they replaced the motherboard last March. Fine since then. Don't know if fixing the socket alone will help.

Well I final got a new charger as suggested, again the white light came on and left it to charge for about 5 hours then the white light went out. I tried to power it and the amber light flashed a couple times and the back was warm.
worth trying to replace the battery for $40?
if the light is coming on the port should be okay right?
