Venue 8 unlock

Just wondering if Dell will at some point give us the choice to unlock our devices which, then in turn would allow us to gain root access.  The ability to use Titanium backup is paramount on my Android devices and without that, my Venue 8 (which I purchased to replace my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0) cannot be utilized as I originally intended.  As of now, we don't even have a full restore to download incase of problems. (much needed even without the ability to unlock the tablet)

I am not looking for any extension of the warranty and I understand that unlocking the device would void my warranty.  I am ok with that.  I own 8 other devices that run Android, all unlocked and rooted, and never had any issues with any of them, nor have I tried to use any of the warranties.  HTC, Asus, and other companies make available full stock ROMs for download, allow for the unlocking of the devices (with the acceptance, of the fact that the warranty will be voided), and have supplied needed tools to the community. (the Android community overs at xda-developers.com is huge, well educated on the OS, and eager to assist)

I do really like my Venue 8, I just wish I could actually use it.  I have seen numerous posts like this on the Dell facebook page, and I am curious as to why, I cannot modify the tablet that I paid for, as I see fit?

I agree 100%.  I love this 8" tablet ... it is snappy and fast and also has a great display.  BUT, it is unusable without the option to root.  We paid for this device ... it belongs to us!  We understand the issues regarding unlocking the device .... voids warranty and you can "brick it".  If we choose to unlock a device, root it, and run a different ROM, then we should be allowed to to so.

I also own several Android devices and they are all rooted and work perfectly ... they are Samsung tablets and phones.  I will be going back to purchasing  Samsung tablets if DELL doesn't wake up!  You made a great tablet DELL but you've ruined it by not letting us "android fans" unlock it!

Sorry to say that I'm only using the V8 for reading books and the occasional youtube video.  It could have been so much more ............

Well, Dell released tools to do this. I have a venue 8 tablet rooted on 4.3.  It's a developer version now.
