Thank you for the answers.
1) On the VNX, the rules was specifically to let those system disks alone. In Unity, the rule is blurry. The best practices is to let them alone for large setup but we are allowed to use them in the pool for smaller config. Outside of the fact that we are loosing some space, what are the impacts of using the system disks in a pool configured with R5 8+1 or R6 8+2?
2) If somebody create a config with, let say, 25 SSD in a Unity 300, will this be rejected by EMC? If not, what are the impact of doing so even if it doesn't follow the 50% rule?

I am running two VSA appliances and one of them is stuck in service mode. I am unable to login to the GUI or CLI with login service and I've tried several passwords including 'Password123#' and 'service'. This started when I attempted to configure a async replication from my other VSA and now I am unable to do anything with the target VSA. The replication job failed.

Hi,
Two questions this morning:
1) Is there a plan to move the "vault" space on the first 4 disks to the M.2 internal disks? That would remove confusion and would help competing.
2) I saw a note saying that in hybrid config, a max of 50% of the disks can be flash. Is it 50% of the number of installed disks or is it 50% of the maximum number of disks supported by the specific model selected?
Thank you.

Hi ehfortin. Thanks for the questions.
1. We actually vault to the internal M.2 SSD today. The first 4 drives are system drives, used to contain system data such as config data. We have no plans to to change this configuration at this time.
2. It is 50% of the number of drives in the configuration..
Thanks

I have tried logging in as service. It says invalid credentials. Only two passwords I am aware of are the two mentioned above.

There was a good question asked earlier, but can't see that topic anymore, so lets ask here:
"looking for some technical explanation why we decided to use compression instead of deduplication for Unity arrays. Are you able to provide any documentation where we can show our benefits vs HPE deduplication for general-purpose use cases. I don’t want to talk about XtremIO. I just need simple comparison for hybrid arrays (Unity/VMAX vs HPE 3PAR)."
thnx,

Hi all,
Unity All Flash model is very interesting!!
But now I have one question.
Can I check the "SSD total write count" information?
SSD vendor tool can check the status, also other AFA vendor can view the status.
Many customers wants to know the information, because they worries SSD write limit situation.
Best Regards.

The password should not be Password123# , because that is the default password, and you are forced to change it at first login, by default when changing it you'll see that there is a checkbox to set the service password to the same as the admin password. So if you set the admin password to 'Password123!' instead, that is likely the password to the service account as well. Also by default SSH is disabled on a new Unity install, unless you enabled it in the service menu. That means that you would need to use the ipmitool or UEMCLI to connect most likely. The EMC IPMI tool for Unity is available here:
IPMI Tool 1.0
Note of course that it's basically Serial over IP in this instance.

Hi Norick,
If the system has ESRS enabled, then we capture metrics related to SSD wear periodically and will alert the customer when a particular drive is about to wear.
Alternatively, if you can view the endurance level of SSD drives via CloudIQ.
Thanks !

Hi kiruthikag,
Thank you for your answer.
It's good information and interesting feature.
I'll try to test of Cloud IQ.
