EMC Unity RE-IP

Hello there,

I currently have a working pair of Unity300 in 2 sites with file replication from Site1 to Site2.

I will need to RE-IP all interfaces on the Unity in Site2 as part of a datacenter networking project.

I have to change the MGMT IP on the Unity, and change the Replication Interfaces in Site2 and get the replication working again between the sites.

I am looking for a process/procedure to handle this RE-IP requirement so that I won't have to lose any data that is already SYNC there at Site2, I don't want to have to start replication from scratch.

Any pointers would be helpful.

Thanks.

Have you done this?

I have only done this on a pair of Unity VSA in our lab, not yet in production.

Build vsa-1/prod and vsa-2/recovery with all NIC on the same portgroup/VLAN, then change vsa-2/recovery.

This seemed to work to emulate/simulate networking changes.

PROD/RECOVRY setup all NICS for both VSA on VLAN60
PROD PAUSE the replication NAS
PROD PAUSE the replication FS
RECOVERY shutdown "RECOVERY" storage system
RECOVERY VMware (change the nics) on VSA-2 to VLAN50
RECOVERY change the IP of "RECOVERY" unity (cmdline on console in VMware)
RECOVERY login to unisphere in RECOVERY
RECOVERY change replication interface
PROD Edit the replication connection
PROD verify and update replication connection
RECOVERY edit NAS server interface on RECOVERY site/override
PROD resume NAS Server
PROD resume FS
PROD sync the FS
PROD verify the current NAS Server settings in DNS/auto-AD
PROD Failover NAS Server  between "PROD" and "RECOVERY"
PROD Failover FS between "PROD" and "RECOVERY"

Then, fail back to PROD, verify, etc.
