Migrate from Physical Server from NetAPP to Virtual on Unity

Hi,

I have a few physical servers with SAN storage from NetApp. I need to migrate these over to virtual. The P2V tool won't work. Just checking on what I can use to successfully migrate these over to Unity. Any help would greatly be appreated.

Thanks,

As far as I know, there is no easy instant way to migrate physical NetApp SAN storage to virtual Unity (Unity VSA)..

Probably, one of the easiest ways is

1. Deploy a Unity VSA
2. Use SANCopy pull from the Unity VSA to migrate NetApp SAN storage (LUNs)

Here are a few options that you can use to migrate your physical servers with SAN storage from NetApp to Unity:

  • SAN Copy Pull. This is a feature of Dell EMC Unity that allows you to migrate block data from a supported storage system to a Dell EMC Unity system. This is a good option if you want to migrate your data without having to take your physical servers offline.
  • VMware Storage vMotion. This is a feature of VMware vSphere that allows you to migrate virtual machines between hosts. You can use Storage vMotion to migrate your virtual machines from your physical servers to a Dell EMC Unity system.
  • Datadobi DobiMigrate. This is a third-party tool that can be used to migrate physical servers and virtual machines to Dell EMC Unity. DobiMigrate is a good option if you need to migrate your data to Unity, but you don't want to use SAN Copy Pull or Storage vMotion.
