NAS Proxy functionality

Hi!

I have two Unity400 with asynchronous replica for NAS service.

I have configured the NAS to serve CIFS in the CPD1 with the name REPODOC and the IP 10.250.10.50, the replica is configured to the CPD2.

In the CPD1 I have configured another NAS as Proxy with the IP 10.250.10.51 and I access the files of REPODOC correctly through

\\Proxy\REPODOC

The question is how can I access the snapshots of the CPD2 NAS through the proxy?

In the documentation on the matter I can not find configurations about it or if it is possible or not to access the content.

Thanks

on the primary side you can simply browse C$ to see the NAS server root including all the file systems and snapshots

or you can create a NFS/CIFS share for a particular snapshot

on the secondary (readonly) side the same can be achieved through the new NAS server proxy functionality

The easiest way to restore files from the secondary side (without actually failing over) is through the proxy NAS server

you can just browse into the snapshot file system can copy from there

Other options are listed in the Unity DR access and testing technote - they also apply if you are running an older version of the Unity OE before proxy NAS was introduced

In that technote there is a screenshot - the directories there that start with UTC_201x are the snapshots created through the scheduler

You should see each snapshot as a directory on the top level of the proxy share

Yes Rainer, I can see the 10 snapshots of the primary site file system but my doubt is how can I see the snapshots of the file system on the secondary site that is replica from primary site. At the second site I have 12 snapshots.

If I want to restore files from snaphot that is only at the second site. What would be the procedure?

    As a note

The primary and secondary sites are connected via extended lan and in case of failover the replica NAS up with the same IP as the primary.

    Thanks in advance

Additionally, over SMB, snapshots can frequently be seen by using either:

    a) the previous versions tab (from a windows box)

    or

    b) by changing your path from \\proxy\repodoc\ to \\proxy\repodoc\.ckpt .Different NAS systems call this different things. VNX/Celerra was always .ckpt, Isilon + NetApp use .snapshot, and so-forth, however in some cases it's hidden over SMB.  Of course confirming that the snapshots are there in the first place is where I would start.
