SAN shows new HDD faulty.

i have a Unisphere 300 and a HDD went bad, i purchased 2 replacements and both show as bad well. I also changed the HDD caddy to make sure it wasn't that. What can the issue be?

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

What errors are they showing? It could be the slot. It could be multiple drives having bad blocks and bad data is being written during the rebuild.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

@DELL-Josh Cr hello, the error i get is that the drive has failed and swap it immediately. I tried another bay and with different new HDDs and same thing.

It might be a corrupt array. Is it under warranty? Do you have a backup of the data?

@DELL-Josh Cr it is not under warranty anymore. I did request a quote for a one time support ticket. And yes we do have backups.

Getting the service logs may help to see if any additional information is there. Dell Unity: How to Gather Service Data Collects (Logs) From A Unity Array (User Correctable) | Dell US
