Unity 4.4.0 admin ssh and smb access issues
I've got a virtual UnityVSA 4.4.0 install running on an ESXi server in my lab. It's been up for several months, we use it to verify that our product can mount exports and map shares from Unity systems like those our customers have in their data centers.
A week or so ago, we stopped being able to map smb shares. nfs access continues to work with no problems.
When I went to log in via ssh as admin to troubleshoot, I got:
Password:
Password:
Password:
Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive).
Same username (admin) and password works just fine to get into the admin webui.
ssh is enabled, and ssh as service works just fine:
ssh service@

PS C:\Users\igneous> net use * \\\ftest /user:Administrator
The password is invalid for \\\ftest.
Enter the password for 'Administrator' to connect to '':
System error 1326 has occurred.
The user name or password is incorrect. Trying to use "smbclient" from an ubuntu box also gives a password error:
ubuntu@ip-172-31-19-207:~/mesa$ smbclient -L -U admin
Enter admin's password:
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE I don't know if the smb mapping issue is related to the ssh issue, or if I've got two separate issues.
I've tried changing the admin password. I've tried restarting the Management Software. I've tried rebooting the Storage Processor. I've tried net use & smbclient with a domain admin account instead of admin, as well as Administrator.
The fact that I can't ssh in as admin makes me think there's something with the Unity. I don't know if the fact that I'm suddenly unable to map shares from clients is the Unity or maybe something that changed on my DC.
How can I continue troubleshooting?

Hi,
I think you have tried all of the basic troubleshooting steps, calling phone support is probably the best option.

I don't think you were ever allowed to log in as admin via SSH on the Unity. Service is the only user allowed.
Not sure about your SMB issues. There was a problem with SMB dialects with certain versions of Windows 10 and Server 2019.

If the NAS Server is joined to the domain, I'm not sure the local Administrator account is even allowed. You'd need domain admin, or a domain user that has local admin rights on that NAS server (by default, after a domain join, only domain admins have local Admin rights on a Unity NAS server). The admin user for Unisphere has nothing to do with users on the NAS Server.

Ah, right. I tried it with a domain admin account, as well, with the same results, I don't remember if that made it into my problem description. Thanks!
And thanks for the extra link, too.
