Unity DPE

Hello All

As you know EMC Unity have two types of DPE as image below:

  • 12 Gb 12-3.5" drive DPE
  • 12 Gb 25-2.5" drive DPE

My question is what is the difference between them?

Difference is the number and type of drives that fit into the DPE

The SP’s, interface cards, … are the same

Please see the Unity hardware information guide for more details

How about the Hard Disk Drive type?

I refer to Hard Disk that use in each DPE, Do they use SSD Drives or Others?

You said the difference between DPE is the number and type of drives that fit into the DPE, How about the performance?

The drives can be any type, depending on how the array is ordered and if it's a Unity Hybrid or All Flash.

The DPEs themselves should show no differences in performance.

You can check out the info hub for more info:

I would suggest to start with the Unity Family White Paper and the spec sheets

For EMC Partners there are also online Unity Trainings available through the Partner Portal on emc.com
