Unity RecoverPoint basic

Please help me to define difference b/w RecoverPoint basic that is included in Unity and RecoverPoint advanced that is optional in Unity.

There is RP and RP4VM

Whats included with Unity is the RecoverPoint basic license - you need need a RecoverPoint appliance (hardware) for that.

Plus 15 RP4VM licenses which works on VMware for VM level replication and doesnt need RP hardware

I would really suggest to talk to your local pre-sales to get an understanding of the replication options

In short RP basic covers a single array per site and only Unity/VNX/VNXe

RP advanced covers multiple arrays, multi-site configs and other EMC arrays

Details should be available through the docs and from your local EMC / partner sales

I am also Pre-sales but i am confused with RecoverPoint basic and RecoverPoint advanced.

If both are hardware then what is difference b/w both?

Is this just a license???

It's inclusive with Unity array.

If its just a software so means we can enable replication b/w unity and VNX/VNXe without RecoverPoint hardware.

In addition to the RPA hardware you also need a RP license

the free RP basic license included with Unity is meant for the cases where the customer already owns an RPA (with a license that doesnt cover Unity) and wants to add his new Unity system

i hope that explains it

I am not an expert an RecoverPoint licensing - there should be an extra forum or a licensing doc for it
