Checking whether the event that you describe should trigger an alert via the Availability > Node > Link Down or Offline alerts. Were these alerts enabled in your environment during the time of the incident? Will also check on the Miscellaneous alerts for more information, however, they are already categorized by Critical, Informational, Major or Minor for severity levels so they should have been working without issue. If you can explain what you wanted to achieve it would be helpful. Are you saying that you had enabled the CRITICAL alert and were still being flooded with all other types of severities?
Update: Any event generated from Isilon that does not have an event code listed in the SRM Alert Matrix is processed as "Miscellaneous". So in the case you described, if the Miscellaneous alert was disabled then the alert would not be processed for the "NIS servers in Primary are offline. Authentication services may be interrupted" event. Please let us know if there are other questions.
