Ability to have iDRAC and OMSA on different networks?

We have our iDRAC cards on a separate, private network from our VMWare hosts. I tried adding a NIC to the Dell Plugin virtual applicance so it could see the other network but that resulted in the public network not working and us not being able to access the plugin interface at all. Does the capability to have the appliance on two networks exist?

We don't support having multiple NICs in the virtual appliance.

The iDRAC network can be a separate network from the ESX hosts, however the virtual appliance needs to be able to see the iDRAC, ESX hosts, and your vCenter. The required IP ports are documented, so if you have a firewall in the environment, you can create the correct rules to allow controlled communications.

I hope this helps.

thanks!

I'm confused. If multiple NICs are not supported, how can the iDRACs be on a different network than the ESX hosts?

I'm sorry - I meant multiple virtual NICs on the virtual appliance (one to connect to the iDRAC network, one to the host network).

while the iDRAC and Host can be on separate networks, there needs to be a route from the virtual appliance to both networks. If there is no way to get to both networks from one place, then our current version of software will not work.

Thanks!
