OpenManage on ESX 3i 3.5

The VMware web site states that the latest version of ESX3i supports OpenManage 5.4 (http://www.vmware.com/support/vi3/doc/vi3_esx3i_i_35u1_vc25u1_rel_notes.html). Though I don't see any referenence to this anywhere. Is there a version of OpenManage that works with the 3i infrastructure?

From a management point of view, it is baked into the product. There is no service console on 3i to install any "agents".

Follow the instructions in this document (VMware ESX 3i - Software on Dell PowerEdge Servers - Systems Management Guide) -- http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/solutions/msmpa00.pdf

It will walk you through the steps of configuring SNMP on 3i to point to your ITA box for management. I did this last month, you can see the results in this posting -- http://www.delltechcenter.com/page/3%2F13%2F2008+-+ESX+3i+-+Comments

Has anyone tried using the instructions for ESX http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/solutions/installing_dell_openmanage_on_esx.pdf on the ESX3i?
