creating and editing dashboard views
Hi there,
we are strongly thinking in deploying a foglight dashboard to our customers, we got a evaluation copy and I am exploring the product at the moment.
at the moment, I am trying to make a copy of a view and make visual changes to this copy. To make sure I am not modifying the original, I made a "deep copy" but, from what I can see, there isn't much of a difference between a normal copy and a deep copy. all the widgets are still under a different module. I would have expect the deep copy to pull all external references and bring it onto my new module.
then I'd wish to be able to delete and modify widget from the design view. but everything seems to be read-only.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Hi,
A deep copy in Foglight copies sub components of a dashboard to the selected module instead of just keeping a reference (regular copy).
I could not help noticing that you said that you just got an evaluation copy and exploring the product, the out of the box dashboards are something that have a lot of dev work and framework understanding invested in and modifying them is a bit of an advanced topic.
For new Foglight users that have not yet had training or sessions with PSO I typically recommend going for the drag and drop functionality that offers a lot and is a great entry point to Foglight dashboarding.

Thank you Golan,
I am exploring both the possibility the create dashboard from the drag and drop functionnality and also work on copies.
I understand the general difference between a deep and a normal copy.
But I wonder if in foglight; If I deep copy a dashboard view that was previously copied as a normal copy would it fetch all sub components linked as a reference into the new copy?
