Dashboard - Virtual Machines count per Datacenter and Opertating System

Hi,

We're being asked couple of times per year to provide a report of virtual machine count for various reason (mostly auditing), we usually run this report with powercli, but i would like to have this available at all time for our management team, is it possible to create a dashboard or a report that will return the vm cound on a OS basis per datacenter, something like:

               DC1

               Windows 2003     100

               Windows 2008     200

               Read Hat             50

               Others                 3

               DC2

..... you all get the picture.

I will continue working on this, if someone already made something like this, please let me know.

          Thanks!

PS: I did look at the View available but it doesn't provide the ganularity i need.

It certainly is possible.  The data is definately there, the trick is to get it out of the system in the desired way.

Essentially we need to create a UI Query to get the data into the correct format, so that you can then use the drag and drop tools to create your dashboards or reports.

How comfortable are you getting into WCF, the development environment?

Hi,

I didn't had the chance to play yet with WCF but one of my collegue did, if you can provide some hints to get us started, we will try to complete this afterwards.

     Thanks for the help!
