New concept for dashboard
My idea is to take the current user, finds their AD/Internal groups and finds services that match the AD group names. This way I can make a single dashboard that takes a service as an input and then enumerate the objects inside of it without having to create lots of logic or some complex structure. Just take the first group they are a member of (or other logic) and then show the dashboard.
Steps to make this work ->
- LDAP or Users configured to groups
- Services created that match group names + fill the group with contents (DMC or ad-hoc)
- Dashboard framework that takes a service and passes that context to another view (this way I can have a single view precreated and use a drag and drop)
The way I figure, this all should take about 10 minutes to setup intially and then the time is however long it takes to create the dashboard they want to leverage.
Sound good? Bad? Anything you would want me to add?
PS. Already have this working :-)
I took the simple tiles and made it so that for every service that matches a group name, internal or LDAP, I will find all the components of the service and build a nice simple overview of how things are working inside the service.
From there you can follow the normal drilldowns per the objects (not so multi-tenant since you can still break out vs. changing the flow to a locked down page, but hey it's free time)

A fine idea.
