vFoglight for Storage is extremely slow!!!

Hello,

I'm running vFogStorage (v 1.6) on a VM (vSphere 4.1U1) with 2 vCPU's, 6GB RAM & 4 vDisk (on a Netapp array with 17x15K SAS disks). The VM itself is running fine but vFogStorage is extremely slow and becomes unresponsive for moments.

I've tried using the console installed on the vFogStorage Server and also using it from a remote admin desktop. In both cases the console freezes randomly and after a while it resumes to respond, but when using from the remote admin desktop it's practically unusable as freeze periods are larger than on the local server.

It's possible to tune up the system to accelerate it?

vFoglight Storage has a patch available that resolves this issue.  This problem was taken offline and the problem was identified.

Version 1.6.1 will have this patch included and has fixed several performance issues.

I would like to get a better Idea of your environment.

Did you install 1.6 as a fresh install or as an upgrade?

How many VCs, ESX hosts, and VM are you collecting from?

How many Storage Devices are you collecting from?

How many switches are you collecting from?

Are the vDisks on different aggregates on the Netapp, or are you only running a single one?

Thanks

Mike

Hello Mike,

I've installed 1.5.2, then upgraded to 1.5.3 and then to 1.6. In all versions vFogStorage is very slow.

  • We are colleting data from 1 VC, 23 ESXi hosts, 250 VMs
  • 2 pairs of Netapp FAS3240
  • 2 Brocade 5300 switches

The vDisks are all on the same agregate. It's a RAID-DP with 15+2 600GB SAS 15k disks.

Regards

Jose

Jose,

I opened a case so we can get a support bundle.  Let me know if you do not receive notification of the case.

Thanks,

Mike
