Any opinions..?
Any opinions on the value of the optional October, 2016 Preview of Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 (KB3192403)?
Some of it sounds -to me- like more intrusions from MS.

As I understand the system, this month's PREVIEW will be(come) part of next month's ROLLUP. So if you've [reluctantly] decided to accept the new rollup approach, you'll be getting all of this "soon" anyway. I'm bypassing it "for now", but will be accepting next month's rollup.

I hid it for now, don't want to see if offered every time there is a WD definitions update.
On the computer with Vista, no updates have been offered since August 8th, but on the one with Windows 7, everything is up to date, including this "preview"..
Totally weird.

There's a reasonable summary here:

To me, "Preview" smacks of beta testing.
And anything involving "telemetry" is suspect.
In any event, I gave this non-security rollup a pass.

That's exactly what put me off installing this update. But I'm afraid we won't have any options in the future, aside from refusing all updates.
And sooner or later MS is likely going to go to a subscription model. So we'll have to pay annually to keep the OS updated. :emotion-12:
