AVG anti-spyware 7.5

My free version of AVG spyware has changed icon color from multi color to shades of grey.  This just happened today.  I have changed nothing.  It starts with computer start-up.  It is up to date and has completed a scan with nothing found.  Do I need to uninstall and reinstall or do I have a spyware issue or does it want me to buy the full version?

AVG Anti-Spyware has two main components:
resident ( Continuous / Real-time ) Preventive  Protection, and
an on-demand scanner.

The free version offers only a 30-day trial of the resident protection.   after the 30-days, only the on-demand scanner remains free.

in all likelihood, you just passed the 30-day limit, and the icon "turned gray".   You may continue to use its on-demand scanner... but if you want the resident protection as well, you'll have to buy it.

Hi ya Okarl,

AVG will go gray when you don't allow it's critical updates. You need not buy the upgraded version, just right click on the icon and tell it to update.  After it downloads the new files and updates your program, "click ok" tab and then your icon should go back to full color.

I gave that a try and updated.  The icon remained gray.  I believe it has been 30 days and it is requesting a paid version to work properly with real time monitoring.  I was a good program with the real time monitoring, and updating.  All it found was tracking cookies.  I have switched back to Adware.  I still need to start the scanning and do the updating, but that is OK.  Thanks for the help.

Hi

Try AVG forum http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/index.php?0 .

I have been using AVG free edition for more than two years. It automatically gets updated without any problem.

Bashov, are you referring to the anti-spyware free version or the anti-virus free version?
