Get smitrem from http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click%20counter/click.php?id=1
Save it to your desktop then run it. It will extract a folder called smitrem
with a bunch of files in it. (THe default is to extract it to your desktop.
If you have trouble logging in with your usual login when in safe mode you may need to
run smitrem again and change the path to C:\ and you can then start the
runthis.bat
program from any login by Start, Run, c:\smitrem\runthis.bat, OK. But do not
run it yet.)
Shutdown and Restart and Boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key when you see
the PC maker's logo.
Keep tapping until it tells you it is going to Safe Mode or you see the Safe
Mode menu. Select the top option. Log in as your usual login or you won't find
the programs you put on the desktop
and some of the entries we want to remove will not appear in HijackTHis.
Run HijackThis and just do a Scan only. Check then Fix Checked the following:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [intell321.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\intell321.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Anti-Virus-Pro] "C:\Program Files\Anti-Virus-Pro\App.exe" hide
close all programs. Open Smitrem and doubleclick on RunThis.bat (you probably won't see the .bat extension). Follow the prompts. The cleanup at the end is optional.
Reboot into regular mode. If you still have desktop problems:
Start, Run, regedit, OK to bring up the regedit program.
find HKey_Current_User->Software ->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion>policies (Hit the + sign in front of each Key as you find them. That will open up the subkeys.)
Under Policies is sometimes an entry named System. If you find it highlight it and press the Delete key. Then OK. Close the program.
Start, Control Panel, Display (Properties). This should bring up Display Properties/Background. Change the wallpaper to something else and Apply. You may also need to select Web and uncheck the box where it says View My Active Desktop as a web page or uncheck the box where it says Show Web Content on my Active Desktop. OK
Post a new log when done and tell me if the desktop is fixed. If not fixed also post the log from smitrem's RunThis.bat.
