Cant open windows task manager

I cant access my task manager. When I hit control, alt, delete the task manager comes up for a fraction of a second, and then closes before I can do anything with it. Sometimes it only comes up on the taskbar, on the bottom of my screen, but then closes before I can click and open it up. It worked fine up until a couple of days ago. I dont know what is wrong with it. Can someone please help me?

p.s... sorry if this isn't the right spot for this post

You probably have a virus (it keeps killing task manager when it opens)
 
You need to boot into safemode and either run a virus scan or pare down some startup items.  See http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm on how to get into safemode.
 
When in safemode, run the virus scan first to clean out everything possible.  If this doesn't help you may need to pare down starup items in safemode.
 
If this is the case, you will need to look in the HjackThis forums for information on what to remove once in safemode.
