Computer Running S-L-O-W-L-Y...
Can someone please help me!! My Dell laptop is running slowly. I get many pop-up messages and I can't set my browser homepage. It keeps reverting to msn.com. I've run Ad-aware and Spybot. Here is what Hijack This has detected. Please tell me how I can get my computer to work. HELP!!

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder. When you run HijackThis from this folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary. Please delete the old copy (including the zip copy) so it can't be used.
======================
Check these in hijackthis, AND WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED, fix checked.

Then Reboot to safe mode (F8 on boot) and delete the following files/folders:-
NOTE: To avoid the risk of any of the above not being found due to them having the 'Hidden' attribute, first make sure that in Folder Options > View hidden and operating system files are set to show:

Then Reboot and post a fresh log for me to check.

Thank you, ChrisRLG. I followed all of your instructions. However, I was not able to delete the rcp32.exe file. I found an RCP file and an rcp32 file. I could not open either of them nor could I delete either of them. Here is the result of my last scan on hijackthis!
...AND I still can't reset my home webpage or set a desktop background. Any ideas?

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [43FS3sT] rcp32.exe
Again try to find that file - if you do not have 'show known file extentions' set in windows explorer, folder options you will not see the .exe bit.
See here for instructions to change your view options http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2002092715262339?Open&src=ent&docid=2002092514302348&nsf=ent-security.nsf&view=docid&dtype=corp&prod=Symantec%20AntiVirus%20Corporate%20Edition&ver=8.x&osv=&osv_lvl= and delete if you find it.
then reboot and do a new hijackthis log for me to check.

Thanks.
