Conflict between Windows defender and Trend Micro PC cillin Internet Security

Recently I was told there is a conflict between Trend Micro antivirus and Microsoft Windows Defender. And that this might be the reason I have a contiual memory leak. Anyone have experience with this?

Running a 2006 E521, Athlon Dual Core x64 5000+, with 1 GB memory and 160 GB HD, with X1300Pro ATI video card.

Thanks.

When I run task manager, the three largest programs running are my antivirus and MsMpEng.exe which I think is Defender. Also getting a very slow shut down and restart. Don't know if they are related.

Thanks.

If you want things to run faster...you can uninstall Trend Micro firewall.  Seems to have a confict with Webroot Spysweeper and Windows Defender.  If you do uninstall it...make sure to run at least Windows firewall...I chose to uninstall Spysweeper, for the AntiSpyware module in Trend Micro's program is decent and there is no need....Without Spysweeper and removing Trend Micro firewall...things are flying.

To remove Trend Micro firewall...go to Start...RUN and type pcctool.  The program opens and you can choose to uninstall Firewall from the uninstall tab.   The reason this is so effective for me is that I have Trend 2007 on my desktop and Trend v14 for Dell on my laptop.  In each case...both machines are protected by the Hardware firewall of my router...
