Deletion of a dodgy program - please help

Question

I When I go onto the internet it works fine, then it says it has been disconnected and needs to connect again - so I press connect again - but then a dodgy looking icon appears on my desktop and if you click on it it says that it is charging at a rate of £1.50 per min!    My friend a few weeks ago thought she has sent me a virus, so not sure if it is this - but I deleted the icon but it keeps happening and coming back - please can someone help?   I have looked in my programs on the add/remove file but cannot see it listed.   Thanks Debbie

Deb, you have spyware most likely or possibly a virus.  Are you running an anti-virus program and a spyware protection program?  Are you running a firewall program?

Deb, you almost certainly have a dialer spyware program installed. You need to access the Special Interest/Anti Virus board. A link is here:
