Thanks for the links David. It is interesting to read all the positive endorsements of the various versions, and then witness the decline and fall of this once mighty antivirus, starting with version 7. Can't believe all the hassles I had getting my system straightened out after that simple switch last year, and the difficulties you guys have had with these later versions.
I think I mentioned I took the All-in-One Inspiron 20 with Windows 8 back to the store. Didn't have the patience to deal with that OS at this point. I noticed that some local shops offer Dells with Windows 7 and will check that out. I don't need anything fancy, or even new. If I do get one soon, I am really leery of putting any Avast product on it. On this Vista machine the Windows firewall and Avira AV seem to get the job done. Will attempt the saem setup on the new computer when I get it.
