Fake Anti Virus pop ups

Question

I have two consistent anti-virus pop-ups "Anit-Virus System Pro Alert" and "Spyware Alert!"

I have run system checks using AdAware SE along with Comcast.net antispyware but still have the pop-ups

before going down the road of manually editing your system to rid it of the obvious malware it has why no try either or both of these two free scan/repair tools:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com for their free scan/repair tool, or www.malwarebytes.org for their free antimalware scan/repair tool.
cox gives you rebadged mcafee antivirus which is pretty bad these days. and adaware is just not effective anymore.
i suggest getting either the free antvirus from http://free.avg.com or www.avast.com as better alternatives, and manually scan periodically with mawarebytes.

The post is extremely long. It detracts from assistance being provided. You should reduce the post as to get the necessary assistance. CNET and Tucows provide a program called Tuneup Utilities which can be installed on a 30-day trial basis. You can download this program from one of the sites. You can use this program to delete or uninstall unwanted programs. You can defrag your computer and perform other necessary checks. You neglected to mention that you might have downloaded free antivirus and spyware removal software from Trend Micro or bought its software.

It has been reported, and hopefully is on the list of forum upgrades.   Talebearer, most of the threads in this forum can be quite lengthy.  Malware removal is not the one-shot deal that it was years ago.  Any forum that gives quickie fixes and does not ask for diagnostic logs as a follow-up to address vulnerabilities in a system, is not doing a thorough job.  I do not believe that Tuneup Utilities will delete the issue in the original post  because today's malware is written to avoid detection of all components and to avoid easy removal.  The member who started this thread is continuing in a new topic so you are welcome to follow the removal procedures there. We are always looking for more volunteers to help on the security forums. If you are interested in training please refer to the list of schools in the post at the top of this forum.

From previous usage several years ago, Trend Micro is a download in which you authorize the company through its JavaScript programming to remotely access your computer to facilitate virus and spyware removal. The remote access feature must be deactivated so as not to allow the programs furthur access to the computer.
