gadummy,

What specific problems are you having with your system?

Let's get started with what I can see...

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall), if present:

Wild Tangent

Download LSPFix and unzip to your desktop, then run it. Now, we need to:

  1.  check(tick) " I know what i'm doing".
  2.  click on (highlight) each occurance of the following, one at a time:

      osmim.dll

  3.  then click " >>", moving each one, individually, to the 'Remove' pane.
  4.  (double-check, and make sure that only the above files are in the 'Remove'pane.)
  5.  click " Finish >>

Before we begin, let's move HiJackThis to it's own folder; like c:\HJT. When we're done ' cleaning' off your system, we're going to ' flush' the temporary folders which, with HiJackThis in it's current location, will lose both the program and the backups it creates. These backups are important in case we need to restore any 'fixed' entry(s) later.

Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s). Make sure you can view system and hidden files/ folders:

folders...

C:\Program Files\WildTangent

Post back a new log with any other concerns your having with this system.

Mike.

gadummy,

Ok. The startup message should be gone now.

You might also scan your system for any "WildTangent" folders and remove them.

Is everything working ok, or is that another problem or concern we need to look at?

Mike.

Thank you for your help Mike.

I can not get Marketscore off my PC, I have done everything from hjt but when I run an aol spyware scan marketscore is back everytime. Also when I run McAfee virus scan I get unwanted program "osmim.dll" which I know is related to marketscore, but I can't delete, quaritine,or clean this file.

gadummy,

Do you know the location of the osmim.dll file; Maybe we can delete this manually? Have you also tried running both AdAware SE and Spybot from "Safe Mode"?

Was anything else cleaned off your system prior to your first post? Maybe something was left behind that HiJackThis doesn't see.

Mike.

The last time I ran McAfee virus scan it said osmim.dll was deleted.so maybe it's gone now.what will running SBS&D in safe mode do?Its hard for me to get into safe mode because it does not always start in sfe mode by tapping f8 while xp starts is there another way to get to safe mode?

Thanks for all your help.

gadummy,

Yes. You can limit your startup options by using msconfig, see this.

dadummy,

Sorry, i'd missed part of your question. The reason I recommend running those in safe mode, is a matter of convention. Sometimes, it's hard to tell without actually being there, if what's trying to be fixed is in use (currently running) - if it is, then rebooting in safe mode, might allow the 'spyware' busting programs to remove it.
