Follow Atribune's procedure at:

http://www.atribune.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=447&hl=killvundo

The paths the program asks you for would be:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqq.dll

and
 C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqtss.*

Do not use the ones given in the article.  They won't work for your infection.

When HijackThis pops up during the procedure you will need to check these two:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqq.dll

and

O20 - Winlogon Notify: sstqq - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqq.dll

You will know that it worked if the above lines
either drop out of the scan or say File Missing when you complete the procedure.

If you see them then check them and Fix Checked to remove them.

Post a new HijackThis scan when you are done.

You seem to have a double infection:

First in Safe Mode, run HijackThis and check these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.UWFX5RS_0001_0808] "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\UWFX5RS_0001_0808NetInstaller.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.UWA5PLP_0001_0721] "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\UWA5PLP_0001_0721NetInstaller.exe"

Also verify that the bug has not changed these two lines:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqq.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: sstqq - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqq.dll
but don't check them.  (If the file name or path has changed you will need to use the new one in the procedure)

Then Press Fix Checked.

Then run the program.  Make sure you are typing sstqq.dll with little Q's and not little G's.

If it still fails then try it without going into Safe Mode and if that fails try the procedure at:

If the above line wraps and doesn't work use:  http://tinyurl.com/7n5f8

Thanks for the feedback.

I have no idea about activescan.  Don't think I've ever used it.  Not even sure what you mean.  I'm fond of escan.  Seems to be the world's largest (10.5 meg download) and slowest antivirus/antispyware program (can take 8 hours or more to finish) but it is very thorough.

If you have a fast link you can get mwav.exe from:

reboot into Safe Mode (F8) and run the escan(mwav) program.  Select Drive then Scan All Files then Scan Clean and let it run overnight.  It will eventually create a log file.  It will remove anything it finds that it considers a virus or try to (used to anyway.  Don't know if it still does.  It will tell you in the log).  Adware it just flags in the log.  You have to go through the log for entries like:
Fri Jul 29 10:25:26 2005 => File C:\WINDOWS\System32\06wu29rd.exe tagged as not-a-virus:AdWare.F1Organizer.g. No Action Taken.

(hint use Notepad's  Edit, Find to  search for: not-a-virus or wordpad or word if it's too big for notepad)
then use killbox to clean the adware manually. Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the full path  in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
example:  C:\WINDOWS\System32\06wu29rd.exe
Press the red button, agree you want to delete the file but do not let it reboot yet.  Repeat for every not-a-virus entry then let it reboot after the last one.

The only thing I get out of it is something to do at work.  I'm a network engineer which is kind of fireman job where I just sit around waiting for the network to break.  This keeps me from falling asleep and it makes everyone think I'm working really hard since I'm always on the PC.
